When circumstances necessitate that an individual seek legal assistance, navigating the complexities of the justice system is a challenge no one wants to face alone. To fortify those efforts and achieve the best possible outcomes, McCutchen McLean, LLC offers a powerful, comprehensive litigation team that resolutely endeavors to achieve success. Two years after the founding partners, James L. McCutchen, Esq. and Robin R. McLean, Esq., joined their firms in 2018, the new firm purchased, renovated, and moved to its current location at 106 East Main Street in the heart of downtown Lexington. In 2023, a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Chapin Chamber of Commerce commemorated the expansion of McCutchen McLean, LLC, to a new second office at 111 Columbia Avenue in Chapin. The boutique law firm has become a trustworthy resource for the everyday litigation needs of South Carolina residents. “Here at McCutchen McLean, we love what we do, we love our work, we love our clients,” says partner Robin R. McLean, Esq.
Attorneys McLean and McCutchen have about 40 years of combined experience practicing law in South Carolina. With these professionals at the helm, this practice is licensed to provide support throughout the state in legal matters pertaining to business and tax law, elder law, estate planning, family law, mediation, personal injury, probate and trust administration, and real estate closings.
Attorney McLean, who is also licensed to practice law in Georgia, earned her Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law in 1995. Prior to establishing McCutchen McLean, LLC, she worked in another Lexington firm where she earned valuable experience while navigating numerous family and civil cases. Today she is certified as a mediator in family and probate law. While her primary focus is representation in cases that involve domestic and family law, she also enjoys assisting those who have been injured or have contract disputes.
Correspondingly, Attorney McCutchen received his law degree from the Charleston School of Law as well as a Master of Laws in Taxation, and a Certificate in State and Local Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. Licensed to practice in South Carolina, he served as a tax litigation and policy attorney before founding McCutchen McLean, LLC, and acted as an attorney for the Office of General Counsel for the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
The founding partners have received many accolades from peers and clients. In addition, from 2021-2024 Attorney McCutchen achieved the special designation of a “Rising Star” with South Carolina Super Lawyers Magazine. This award is only extended to 2.5 percent of attorneys within each state, and the complicated selection process is based on personal nominations, independent research of performance records, and peer reviews.
With its growing team of dedicated attorneys and staff, McCutchen McLean, LLC prides itself on its adherence to a diligent work ethic which secures positive outcomes for clientele. “Our clients typically only have one chance at addressing their legal needs in court,” says Attorney McCutchen, “and they need to have the best team possible representing them. Here at McCutchen McLean law firm, we provide a dedicated team of individuals to assist our clients with all of their legal needs.”
In practical terms, because of their versatile experience, the team at McCutchen McLean, LLC is equipped to assist with litigation challenges such as forming and dissolving businesses, disputing income and tax discrepancies, establishing long-term care planning, structuring and administrating wills and trusts, obtaining divorces and issues surrounding custody and property disputes, negotiating disputes to avoid court, guiding an injured client through the legal process, contract disputes, and overseeing the purchase of both commercial and residential properties. “We have the knowledge and experience you need to have on your side throughout the legal process,” says Attorney McCutchen.
